Mauricio Pochettino’s FIVE-MAN Chelsea striker shortlist ‘revealed’ as Boehly prepares a £517m splash
Chelsea‘s need for a new striker is nothing new. It’s been a problem for the club for years, dating back to their last serious title run in 2016/17.
Since then, they haven’t had a single player score more than 16 goals, a striker score more than 15, or a consistent source for them.
They’ve tried a variety of models. Alvaro Morata, the European major club hotshot.
Gonzalo Higuain, the seasoned pro, is called in to save the day. Tammy Abraham, the academy lad on the rise.
Timo Werner is the king of speed and transition. Romelu Lukaku, the unstoppable force. Kai Havertz, the false nine.

The overage, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the manager’s favorite.
Chelsea fans may be forgiven for being concerned about spending even more money on another player.
Those deemed capable of providing them with the release of goals that all those before them have promised. There is no other option as we approach the summer.
Pochettino will need to add someone as near to definite success as possible for next year to work, but they don’t really exist.
Almost every player can struggle in the wrong situation.
Harry Kane has had his own dips in form in recent years, but he demonstrated the hot-cold aspect of it by scoring enough to make it a distant memory.
He is the obvious solution to the issues. Despite Tottenham’s poorest season since Pochettino’s arrival in north London, he has scored 27 league goals.
His five penalties would make him Chelsea’s third-leading scorer. With two games left, it’s already his third-best return in a single season.

Ivan Toney is the other Premier League-based alternative. On the surface, he appears to be a good decision.
A 27-year-old with a superb link-up, a well-rounded game, English, experience, and form, and no history of ailments.
Brentford’s forward has 20 league goals and four assists for one of the league’s most direct clubs.
He is only waiting for a larger organization to take a chance on him, but there are some reservations.
First and foremost, he will not be available until January 2024, having been suspended for eight months following an FA investigation on betting rule violations.
It implies that any attempts to sign him would either have to wait until the winter window or be made with the understanding that he will be unable to play for more than half of next season.
The other question is how he would do with a team with more possession, less direct play, and that isn’t bent to his will.
