NOT MESSI! NOT CRISTIANO! The RICHEST footballer in the world isn’t who you think it is
If you ask anyone who the richest footballer in the world is, they will most likely name Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo, but one young footballer has surpassed the GOATs.
Messi and Ronaldo both came from humble backgrounds and rose to prominence thanks to their extraordinary talents.
The world’s richest footballer, on the other hand, entered the game as a billionaire.
Faiq Bolkiah
Faiq Bolkiah is the richest football player in the world, with a net worth of $20 billion.
Faiq Bolkiah, the Prince of Brunei, was born in Los Angeles, California to Jefri Bolkiah, the Prince of Brunei.

He spent the majority of his youth career in England, with stops at Southampton, Leicester City, and Chelsea.
In Portugal, he made his senior debut with the Martimo reserve squad, who competes in the Campeonato de Portugal, the second tier.
Bolkiah was born in the United States and has dual citizenship, but he chose to represent Brunei.
He has appeared in six senior international matches, scoring once.
While he did not make his fortune through football, his estimated net worth of US$20 billion makes him by far the richest footballer in the world.
Bolkiah joined Thai League 1 club Chonburi in the second half of the 2021-22 season, becoming the first Bruneian to do so.
This means that the world’s richest footballer plays in a relatively unknown league.
Where do Messi, Cristiano come in?
Lionel Messi is the world’s third-richest footballer. His net worth of $600 million pales in comparison to that of Faiq Bolkiah.

Mathieu Flamini, a former Arsenal player, has risen above Messi and Ronaldo in the post-retirement rankings thanks to his stake in GF Chemicals.
The company manufactures biofuels as well as other products. His stake in the company is valued at $10 billion.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s net worth is estimated to be $500 million, making him the fourth richest person in the world.
While footballer turned businessman David Beckham ranks fifth.
